About Our Founder

Hi! I'm Tony Murphy, the founder and chief operator of the Polaris Rental Group. Growing up, my days were filled with burritos, lifeguarding, and intense sessions of water polo. At 16, my dedication led me to win a junior Olympic gold medal alongside a remarkable team, teaching me resilience and the power of a positive outlook.

My love for water polo took me to UCSD. However, soon after my arrival, a severe accident threatened to derail my journey. Drawing strength from adversity, I shifted focus to academics, transferring to a renowned liberal arts college. My athletic spirit persisted, leading me to join their water polo team and achieve recognition on the nation’s top D3 team, all while graduating with honors.

Post-graduation, I felt a pull towards making a broader impact. Though teaching was enticing, I believed my insights could be better used to uplift my community. This drove me to co-found Hyphy, a startup centered on strengthening human connections. Despite facing hurdles, the experience fortified my resolve and underlined the importance of adaptability and a consumer-focused approach.

Transitioning to short-term rental management, I first assisted family and later took on a more significant role, overseeing a $10 million portfolio for a leading real estate firm and doubling their monthly revenue.

Now, as I venture into growing my business, I want partners like you to understand my ethos: a blend of strategic thinking, team collaboration, and a grounded yet ambitious approach rooted in my competitive sports background. At heart, I'm a true San Diegan, eager to leave a lasting positive mark on our community.
